Neutral Face and Orange Eye Look Tutorial

Seeing as I got myself some new bits and pieces the other week, and it is Sunday today which means day off, which means makeup experimenting; here's a tutorial for ya!

If you like this look, then keep reading to find out how I did it!

So I started by priming my eyes with, as always, the Urban Decay Primer Potion, then using the Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush, I applied the shade Naked from Urban Decay's Naked Palette into my crease, evenly distributing the colour from outer to inner corner.

Then with the Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush, I patted the shade Buck (also from Naked) all over my lid.

Then with MAC's Red Brick Eyeshadow and a Sigma E25 Blending Brush, I blended this into my crease, focusing on the outer corner, and then bringing it in when there was less product on the brush. Just keep blending and blending until it looks how you want it to look. I blended a lot, at least for a song per eye!

I then primed my T-zone with Benefit Porefessional, just with my finger tips, then with the Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush I applied my gorgeous YSL Touche Eclat Foundation. I press the foundation into my skin with the brush, before blending it in in circular motions. Then using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, I concealed my under eyes and nose creases, and highlighted my forehead, nose, chin and dimple areas (you can see in the photo). I think this concealer is really good for both concealing and highlighting.

I set my foundation and concealer with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent, then bronzed my cheeks, forehead and nose with this gorgeous matte Bourjois Bronzing Powder in 51 for a sun-kissed glow. I decided to just bronze my cheeks opposed to using blusher like normal because I didn't want anything to deter from the eyes, which are essentially the show-stoppers in this look, so it was neutral face for the win!

As always I filled in my eyebrows with the Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Black Brown and just used the little brush on the lid to blend it in nicely, then used the No7 Eyebrow Gel to help prevent my very long and fly away eyebrow hairs from going cray cray. Finally I highlighted my brow bone with the YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch.

Back to the eyes, I just used a Sigma E30 Pencil Brush to blend some more Red Brick under my lower lash line. Again, just keep blending until it looks how you like it!

I then applied a medium-ish line of Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner in Black, and of course with a wing. To make my eyes stand out that little bit more, MAC's Coffee Eye Pencil was essential, it just adds so much more to this look, and the coffee colour goes so well with the eyeshadow colours used. And then, of course, I applied two coats of Benefit 'They're Real' Mascara. If you've read a few of my tutorials, you've probably figured that I love dramatic bottom lashes, and would never apply anything less than two coats!

And as always we end with the lips. On a side note, it's always a good idea to put on some kind of lip balm before you start your makeup, so that when it comes to the lips they'll be nice and soft and moisturised. I'm using the Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm at the moment! Anyway, similarly to the cheeks, I wanted a subtle lip, so opted for the MAC Mineralize Glass in Be Nice. It's such a beautiful neutral pink colour, and gloss is so in at the moment so can't really go wrong with this one!

And that's it! I hope you liked this look and everything is clear. Any questions, just holla at yo girl!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation | Review

I wanted to get a drugstore 'cheap' foundation to use as my everyday one so that I could save my more expensive ones for special occasions, I'm not made of money after all and was pretty much using my YSL one so much, you woulda thought foundation was going out of fashion! I heard good things about the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, and at £8.99 for a bottle, as well as a Rimmel 3 for 2 offer at Boots, I thought why the hell not!

Coverage- Medium to Full
Longevity- Long
Price Range- £
My Rating- ♥♥♥

I really don't have a lot to fault about this product. It's cheap, it applies and blends nicely, and it lasts pretty much all day.

In terms of its lifespan, I'm not too sure as I only got it at the end of last month, but I will say that I've used it pretty much everyday since, and there still seems to be a fair amount left.

I like the coverage because it is pretty full, depending on how much you apply. I probably use about a pump and a half, starting with just one, directly onto my brush (Sigma F80) and dot it all over my face, then blend it in and repeat with another half pump or so if need be.

Although it is pretty natural looking as it isn't too matte or shiny (although powder is definitely essential because the consistency is quite watery) I wouldn't say it felt like the most light-weight foundation I've ever used; I'm definitely aware that it is on my face (well I did apply it so you would think so, but you get what I mean) and it does have a very slight sticky feel to it.

I apply, go to work for 9 hours, and when I get home I feel it has lasted the day pretty well, which I usually find very unusual with cheaper foundations. I do find my t-zone does feel slightly more oily as the day goes on with this foundation as oppose to higher-end ones, but that's nothing a little bit of powder won't fix, and lets face it, there are too many pros for this con to make me even care that much.

After reading about it on the Boots website, it apparently does all this good stuff to awaken skin and prevent aging, so that's gotta be good, right?

Overall, I'm really happy with this foundation, I think for the price it does so many great things. Definitely more of an Autumn/Winter foundation in my opinion, but I will repurchase as I think it's great to have in my kit, especially for those days where my skin is feeling a little more spotty, because I think the coverage is great.

Here are some before and after pictures of my oh so lovely face so you can get an idea of how it works. The after pictures are with literally just the foundation, no powder or anything. I use the shade Soft Beige.

Makeup Haul!

So, after all the Christmas debt I couldn't really buy myself much in January. But now it is February. The end of February to be precise, and I got paid today! So naturally, I headed straight towards Brent Cross (shopping center in North London), whipped out the notes on my iPhone to see what was on my very long list of "to-buy" cosmetics and considered how much I could spend. I can live off of £50 a week this month can't I? Anyway, enough jibber jabber. this is what I got....!

MAC Pro Palette, 15 Eyeshadow Insert, Amber Lights and Coppering

I'm so happy that I've finally started my own MAC Pro Palette collection! I thought these two colours were so beautiful and perfect for the spring. I saw a Jaclyn Hill makeup tutorial using them and thought they'd just be the perfect shades to start my collection with.

MAC Eye Pencil in Coffee

I always wear black eyeliner and thought this coffee colour would make a nice change, especially for the spring! When I swotched it on my hand it seemed to glide quite nicely, so stay tuned!

NARS Blusher in Gina

I've wanted this blusher for agessss. I think it's the perfect subtle coral and I'm so excited to try it! I think it will give the perfect rosey glow for, once again, spring! (Can you see a theme occurring in this haul?)

NARS Lipstick in Schiap

I saw a photo on someone else's blog (I'm sorry I can't remember who) of a girl with bright neon pink lipstick and black eye makeup and I just fell in love with the look, hence why this lipstick was purchased. Now to find an occasion where I can be brave enough to rock it...

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Lipstick in 13 Peach Passion

Obviously like most, YSL has drawn me to buy one of their lipsticks because there is just no other packaging like it. I wanted a lipstick I could wear daily and this colour is just gorgeous. It's a really soft orangey pick (peach I guess you'd obviously say) and is just perfect for day time, although could definitely be worn in the evening as well. It's really really creamy and I think it's gonna actually be really moisturising to the lips!

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch in 1 with Baby Doll Mascara and Eye Creme Samples

I actually was just going to get the full size of the Baby Doll Mascara after a friend recommended it to me, but for the same price in John Lewis you could get a full size Touche Eclat (which I know I like) with free samples of both the mascara and an eye cream from their new Forever Youth Liberator range. I am thrilled! Now I can see if I like the mascara and get the full size if I want it, as well as getting 2 other products!

Topshop Gel Liner Ink

I haven't used a gel liner before and seeing as I got a brush to use with one in my Sigma Essentials Brush Kit, I though why the hell not! I went for this Topshop one because it had decent reviews and is quite cheap for me to experiment with.

Rimmel Hide the Blemish in Soft Honey, Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Beige and Stay Matte Powder in Transparent

Boots were doing 3-for-2 on Rimmel products and seeing as I use my YSL foundation DAILY, I wanted a drugstore foundation so my expensive one could be saved for special occasions. I went for the Wake Me Up because I have heard nothing but great things about it. I have also heard the Hide The Blemish Concealer is pretty decent so thought why not! And finally, I'm in the market for a new pressed setting powder and seeing as this would be free, I thought I'd give it a go. I'll let you know my thoughts...
